Position Description

 

POSITION TITLE: Teacher, Elementary, LTS & Contracted (Multiple)       

CLASSIFICATION: Professional Staff                                                              

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

LOCATION: Elementary School             

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

 

 

POSITION GOAL:

Plan and implement age appropriate lessons meeting the needs of individuals enrolled in the elementary grade level program and create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, while establishing effective rapport with students; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation to become lifelong learners; and establish positive relationships with parents, staff and community.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Provide instruction based on district-approved curriculum.
    2. Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to meet individual student needs.
    3. Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
    4. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians by means of conferences, notes, phone calls, e-mail, digital communication and newsletters.
    5. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
    6. Identify pupil needs, makes appropriate referrals, and participate in developing strategies for individual education plans.
    7. Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
    8. Plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on educational trips.
    9. Create a functional and organized environment for learning.
    10. Adhere to Pennsylvania Professional Code of Conduct.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

 

    1. Bachelor’s Degree.
    2. Pennsylvania Elementary Teaching Certification.
    3. Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
    4. Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
    5. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; to plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
    6. Well organized with good time management skills.
    7. Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
    8. Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
    9. Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.
    10. The person, while performing in this position, will be required to: Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; Sit, stand, walk; and occasionally be required to stoop, kneel and crouch; Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus; Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and Possess effective judgment; communication, mathematical, planning and human relations skills; and is required to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

192 days, 7 hours 25 minutes per day.

Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the Roberts Education Association.
